Other houses say that House Moldoff is cursed, a curse that manifests itself through their icy cold touch and complete lack of body hair. A chilling curse that goes beyond their body right to their frigid hearts.

Those who know more know that the members of Moldoff are disfigured and cold as a result of a concoction of drugs and primitive gene therapy resulting in a body temperature just above freezing. Unarguably it provides advantages (eagle eyes, lower heating costs) as well as costs.

Why do they do this? Most concur that it is not by choice, that they do this to beat a genetic flaw or perhaps stem an incurable virus. Others whisper that it is a method by which the ‘gifts’ of the Dark Gods are suppressed after a dark pact by one of House Moldoff's founders.

Those who wish to survive their dealings with House Moldoff do not mention it. As with the other houses they control key industries it pays to stick to business and keep the gossip and plotting to the shadows.
Philosophies and main duties

Production of cryogenics, medical supplies including specialisation in cooling and heating units.

Sometimes referred to as 'Doffs', the members of House Moldoff tend to be quite isolated both as a community and individuals not to the detriment however of vital trade and realpolitik.

They have a natural affinity and interest in the technology of the Lambda Tech even though that interest is not always returned.

History

The Official History of House Moldoff includes long stories and many picts of the co-founders of House Moldoff, Colonel Sheldon Moldoff and Dr Sieger Friesz. How both fought their way up from the underhive and later discovered with noble blood! All very convenient and mostly untrue.

The truth, at least according to Inquisitor Vo’s predecessor, who kept a black book on House Moldoff for purposes unknown, is darker. Originally Colonel Moldoff and Dr Friesz had an opulent life, their every need catered for. She was a decorated retired Imperial Guard commander, he was a brilliant and sought after cryogenics expert and botanist. They met, fell in love and lived in luxury on Nihilist Hive under the benevolent and cynical rule of Baron Gloom, Lord of the only hive with no natural light.

Everything was perfect, he helped refine production of the hives iced hypich wine, she raised their children.

One day it all changed. Their daughter got ill and Dr Friesz reverted to ever desperate and forbidden practices in order to keep her alive. Such acts eventually resulted in the ice zombie plague of [DATE REDACTED]. When eventually traced back they were driven from the hive, persona non grata in all upper hives. Eventually, centuries later, long after their tales had been forgotten and records conveniently lost they settled into hive Confronsis. They founded an industry, fought for their turf and vow to return to the upper spire one day and reclaim their place in the clouds.

Meanwhile, their associates carry their curse, caring little for their founders aspirations, focused much more on food, shelter, turf, petty politics and pride.
